A frozen lock on your car door can be an absolute nightmare–if the lock’s frozen, it’s too cold to stand around outside while you figure out how to get back in your car. Luckily, you can use hand sanitizer to clear the ice.
Hand sanitizer contains alcohol, which will melt ice. First, check all the car’s locks and find the one that’s the least frozen over. Squeeze some hand sanitizer on the key and slowly work it into the lock. Be sure to clean the key (even on your sleeve) to remove excess sanitizer before putting it in the ignition.
