Stinky food storage containers–you know, the “wares” like Tupperware(r), GladWare and the Dollar Store versions of storage ware–are probably filling up your kitchen cupboards right now.
When you bought them, you had the best intentions: buy in bulk, save money, prep for the week. Yet somehow those perfectly stackable containers have gotten stained and smelly. Here’s an easy way to reclaim their original purpose.
Clean food storage containers with hot water and baking soda. Use one tablespoon of baking soda per cup of hot water. Fill the empty containers with the solution, and put the lids in a big bowl filled with this cleaning wonder. Wait an hour, then wash and dry (by hand, not in the dishwasher, because it’s the heat that weakens the plastic).
