Lemon peel may bring a number of different images to mind–including a martini! But before you sit down to enjoy your evening cocktail, spend a little time prepping seedlings for your spring or fall garden.
There’s really no need to buy special planters for your garden’s early shoots, when all you need is right there in the refrigerator. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze out the juice for some lemonade. Then remove the pulp with a sharp knife. (You can do this all in one step with a lemon juicer.) The peel will be in the shape of a cup, which you can fill with a bit of organic garden soil and your seeds or seedlings.
