Camping–in the woods or on the beach–can be fun and romantic. Picture yourself and your special someone, with a nice dinner and a bottle of wine, in the moonlight. You decide to demonstrate your “outdoorsy” side and light a fire. And you can make it easier for yourself by looking at these make ahead meals for camping.
And then the wind gets in your way.
Here’s a camping hack so easy you’ll wish you’d thought of it yourself! Bring along a trick candle–the kind you put on birthday cakes. Trick candles are made to be blown out (in this case, by the wind) yet stay lit. You’ll get plenty of chances to light your special someone’s fire, or that DIY camping stove you’ve made, and look like a camping pro while you’re at it.
Remember to always be safe around fire when camping. Keep it away from your camping sleeping pad to prevent any risk of it getting caught on fire. When you leave the site, exhaust it entirely, and ideally scatter the remains of any fire to respect the environment you were enjoying.
