Chopping Onions Made Easy (No Tears!)

chopping onions

Chopping onions doesn’t have to make you cry.

The next time your recipe calls for chopped onions, don’t despair. You can avoid the tears with this simple cooking hack. First, cut the ends off the onion. (Some people say that if you rub the cut-off ends in a clockwise motion against the onion, that helps, too.) Then, soak the onion in cold water for about 30 seconds.

Now it’s time to slice and dice. Like a master. Here’s the way the pros do it at the Culinary Institute of America.

And, if you’ve got some extra onions, try one of these amazing recipes.
