The next time your recipe calls for chopped onions, don’t despair. You can avoid the tears with this simple cooking hack. First, cut the ends off the onion. (Some people say that if you rub the cut-off ends in a clockwise motion against the onion, that helps, too.) Then, soak the onion in cold water for about 30 seconds.
